  • Long Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Moves After Nearly 15 Years With Massive Gains

A Bitcoin wallet that had stayed quiet for more than 14 years just moved, according to tracking from Galaxy Research.

The address held 100 BTC that first showed up on November 2, 2011, only a few months after Satoshi Nakamoto stopped posting publicly. Those coins sat completely still until they were transferred in block 967732.

At the prices around the time of the move, the stash was worth about $8.09 million. That works out to a gain of roughly 2,486,052 percent from an average cost near $3.

    Details of the Wallet Movement

Galaxy Research spotted the transfer and tagged the address as “Noah Doe #3113.” The firm connected that label to a legal case in New York that involves thousands of old, inactive Bitcoin addresses.

The coins arrived well before the first Bitcoin halving at the end of 2012. Data shows that most of the early 50 BTC mining rewards from that period have already been spent, while a smaller share of those original outputs are still sitting unmoved.

Connection to New York Legal Proceedings

Back in March 2026, a lawsuit was filed in New York Supreme Court asking for quiet title over more than 3.7 million BTC tied to 39,069 addresses.  The people bringing the case, listed as “Noah Doe” and two Wyoming LLCs, want the court to recognize them as the owners of those long dormant coins. The recent wallet move drew extra attention because it carries the same “Noah Doe” tag.

The crypto community was watching a hearing in that case closely in early September.

    What the Move May Signal

When a wallet this old suddenly becomes active, it stands out, since coins held this long almost never move. It is still unclear whether the transfer was a simple change of custody, a test, or the start of something more. Bitcoin was trading near $80,347 when the reports came out.

Activity from early-era wallets tends to get close attention because of the size of the gains and the question of whether the coins will eventually head toward exchanges.

Lost Access to Early Bitcoin or Dormant Wallets?

It is one thing to watch old coins quietly grow in value. It is another thing entirely when the time comes to move them and the keys, seed phrases, or access details are no longer in reach.
